6 killer apps that made the West predominate

Interesting talk from Niall Ferguson - history and business administration teacher at Harvard.
I like this quote from his bio: "If a majority of people subscribe to a particular view, it pays to question it. It pays to think: maybe this is wrong."
He may be a little right of centre. But so am I in many ways.

The six killer apps?

  • Competition (vs uniformity)
  • Science based on reason ( vs.theocracy)
  • Property rights and the rule of law
  • Consumer society
  • Modern medicine
  • Work ethic
View then discuss.
